In the past two days, we’ve had so many cancellations that we were going to cancel the swap all together. After a full day of “re-arranging” and communicating…we WILL be having a throw-together swap tomorrow at Cohen Park in Hebron – 2pm. (Mapquest address: Cohen Park, [100-199] E Bates St, Hebron) It seemed to be a more central location for those who were still interested in swapping. There are 8-9+ interested parties wanting to attend…invite your friends…no rsvp needed, just show up…share with your facebook friends! I know nothing about this park, so you might want to bring a tv tray or table along with you. I’ve done my best to try and please everyone involved. I hope you can make it!
With bundles of goodies in arms, 20 people met at the Lowell United Methodist Church dining hall for the August NWI Food Swap. The variety of food offerings at this event were astounding! You can take a look at the Facebook Photo album HERE.
Whether you were looking for baked goods or jarred jellies, fresh eggs, grass-fed beef or fresh produce, you were sure to find it at the August Swap! Not only did we have a variety of food items, we had a variety of people: seasoned swappers, first timers, men, women and kids! Meeting new people and talking food is what the swaps are all about.
Our next swap is in Michigan City on Sunday, October 27th. You can find the RSVP link in the sidebar on the right. Hope to see you there!
Wow! Can you believe how fast this year is going? It’s seems like we were all JUST biting our nails, waiting for our first NWI Food Swap to happen. Now? We’ve had THREE and are approaching our fourth on August 4th. (Psst…if you want to attend, you can click the link over on the right hand sidebar.)
Instead of re-capping each and every swap, I’m going to list the links to the Facebook photo albums for the events. To get a good idea of the products people are bringing, please browse each one. Overall, everyone has left happy and excited about the food hauls they took home. Even MORE exciting is the food community that is slowly building in our area. Hope to see you soon!
We’re having a Cinco de Mayo NWI Food Swap!!! (This doesn’t mean you have to bring something of Mexican fare, but you can if you want…I am!)

Of course, we would like to avoid any cancellations, but sometimes it happens.
If you have not already, please read the “What Is A Food Swap?” page and the FAQ’s on the NWI Food Swap site so you are aware of how a food swap works. These pages give tips, cleanliness suggestions and basic food/packaging information.
**By participating in this event, you are acknowledging that the food items being traded are not necessarily prepared in any “approved” kitchen or space inspected by any government agency. Swap and eat at your own risk.**
**Stay current by joining the NWI Food Swap Facebook Page**
NWI Food Swap is now listed on the official Food Swap Network website! This is a site where you can go to search for a swap in your area, read about food swapping and find resources to help you with a food swap.
We’re growing, now!
